Congestion Fee Charge

Charges apply from the 23rd September 2024.

  • Congestion Charge Zone: If you drive a Zipcar into the London Congestion Charge Zone during its operational hours, a fee of £5 (including VAT) will be charged to your account.
  • No Charge: If you book and stay within the Congestion Charge Zone for your entire trip, you won’t be charged the £5 fee.
  • Electric Vehicles: No need to worry about the Congestion Charge if you're driving an electric Zipcar—these vehicles are exempt from the charge for now.

Zipcar Roundtrip:

  • No Congestion Fee: If you pick up a Zipcar Roundtrip vehicle from a home location within the Congestion Charge Zone, the £5 fee does not apply, no matter where you drive.

Zipcar Flex

  • Driving Out of the Zone: If you start your trip with a Zipcar Flex vehicle inside the Congestion Charge Zone but drive outside of it and don't return to the zone during operational hours, the £5 fee does not apply.
  • Returning to the Zone: If you return to the Congestion Charge Zone during its operational hours, the £5 fee will be applied.

Key Reminders:

  • The £5 fee is applied per trip if you enter the Congestion Charge Zone, even if you book the same car again on the same day.
  • Always check whether the Congestion Charge applies to your route, especially when planning multiple trips in a day.
