To enter the vehicle, simply unlock using either your Zipcard or the ‘Zipcar’ app. The Zipcard needs to be placed over the card reader in the windscreen until you hear the doors unlock. If you’re using the app, log in and select your active reservation. Simply tap the unlock icon on the vehicle you have reserved (this can take up to 30 seconds).
The key is in the glovebox. Throughout your reservation you should use the key to lock and unlock the doors. For a vehicle that has a start button instead of a key, the Zipcard or app can be used throughout the reservation to lock and unlock the doors.
If there’s no reservation immediately before yours, you can take the car up to 10 minutes early at no additional charge. If you enter the vehicle prior to this, you will be charged for the extra usage.
Before you set off, you must complete a pre-reservation walkaround of the vehicle to check for any damage or other issues. You must report any unlogged damage at the beginning or your reservation to avoid the risk of liability. Simply grab the co-pilot from the glovebox and go to the ‘damage log’ section. Make a note of any unreported damage in the next available slot. Once this is done, you will need to call us to report the damage on 0333 240 9000. We will provide you with a damage report code to add to the log book. It’s as simple as that.
