To get started with opening a business account, follow these simple steps:

To open a business account, simply go to www.zipcar.co.uk and then select ‘Business’ located at the top of the page.

Then 'Click' Join Now

Then 'Click' Create my Business Account.

Once this is done, follow the sign-up process and submit your application. After submitting your application, we may need to do some additional checks to ensure the business is active. If this is required, one of our team will be in touch.
As an owner of a business account, you can invite others to join and drive under your account by following the steps below:
- Login to your Zipcar account.
- Click on My Account at the top of the page and select Account Settings.
- Select the People tab.
- Select +Add Member.
- Input the email address of the new member.
- Select the damage protection coverage.
- Click Send Invite.
Once the new member has received an invite by email, they can click on the link and accept the request from your business and follow the application process. They will not be required to pay any additional fee, as the account owner will be responsible for any billing.
You will not be able to sign up to a business account as an added driver unless you follow the link from the invite sent by the business owner/admin.
Please ensure you’re following the correct steps to either create a business account or add yourself to an existing one. If you see this image, it means you’re starting a personal account instead of a business account.

As an account owner or admin, you can easily invite others to join and drive under your account by following these steps:
- Login to your Zipcar Account
- Click on Account Settings (If using the app, click on Membership under Account to be directed to the website).
- Select the People tab.
- Click on +Add Member.
- Enter the new member's email address.
- Select the damage protection coverage
- Click Send Invite.
Once the invite has been sent, your friend or family member will receive an email detailing that they have been added to an account, with the option to accept this request. All they will need to do then is follow the link in the email and proceed with the sign-up process for an additional driver.
To join an existing business account, simply follow the steps outlined under 'What If I Want to Open/Join a Business Account?'
If you didn’t receive the invitation link, be sure to check your spam folder. If it’s not there, kindly ask the account owner or admin to resend the link.
If you’d like to reopen an account that has been previously closed, log in to your account and click on the Reapply tab. From there, follow the necessary steps to reapply for either a business or personal account.

You can have a business account and also join another account as an additional driver. To do this, simply ask the account owner to add you as a driver to their account. For more details, please refer to the "How do I join an existing personal account or business account?" section.
Once the account owner sends the invitation, click on the link provided and complete the sign-up process. Please note that the two accounts—your business and the additional driver account—will remain separate and unlinked.
Important Reminder
To have both accounts, you'll need to use a different email address for each. No two accounts can share the same email address. Make sure that the invitation is sent to an email address different from the one used for your business account.
To join a work affiliate membership plan, you need to contact the work affiliate directly. They will provide you with a unique URL to access exclusive discounts and offers.
Keep in Mind
- Zipcar cannot provide contact details for work affiliate representatives.
- Zipcar is unable to generate or resend unique join links for work affiliate plans.
Troubleshooting Tips
If you experience issues while applying through a work affiliate, please follow these steps:
- Ensure you are using the unique join link provided by the work affiliate. If the link isn’t working, reach out to the work affiliate for support.
- Avoid entering any additional promotional codes at checkout, as this might invalidate your work affiliate membership benefits.

Application
To reopen a previously declined applicaiton, simply log in and select the Reapply tab.

Previously held account
If your previous membership account is closed, you can reactivate by following the steps below:
- Sign in to your Zipcar account
- Click on My Account at the top of the page and select Account Settings
- Click the Plan card
- Select Reactivate membership
- If it has been a while since we last saw you, you may be prompted to submit some documentation (this will be fully explained when applying)
- Once you have submitted your application, you will get a response within 48 hours
Keep In Mind
If it has been more than 90 days since your account was deactivated, you will be prompted to submit a new application to have your account reactivated, and an application fee may be charged
When emailing us, please provide details about the status of your account and, if possible, include a screenshot of the page after you have logged in.
You can enter your promo code at the end of the sign-up process, just before you submit your application.
If the promo code doesn’t work, complete and submit your application as usual. After submission, email us at newmembers@zipcar.co.uk with details about the code and promotion. We’ll assist you in applying the code and ensuring you receive your discount.
Yes, there are fee's to pay when someone joins your account. However, the amounts will differ based on which membership plan you get added too.
Membership Pricing
Basic: An initial application fee of £10. No monthly charge.
Smart: No Application fee! Add a driver for £3 a month and get £3 driving credit each month.
Plus: No Application fee! Add a driver for £7.50 a month and get £7.50 driving credit each month.
You can review all fees charged to your account by following the steps below:
- Sign in to your Zipcar account
- Click on Billing in the top navigation menu
- Review all transactions posted to your account
Keep In Mind
Some transactions, like tolls, violations, & penalty notices may come in several weeks following a driver's trip
If your application is rejected, you may be able to reapply once the issue causing the rejection has been resolved. Here’s what you can do based on the reason for rejection:
- Licence Length: Reapply once you’ve held your licence for at least a year, or after providing a previous licence to confirm your driving history.
- Age Eligibility: Reapply once you meet the minimum age requirement of 25.
- No Update After 14 Days: Follow up if you haven’t received an update after 14 days.
- Missing Documents: Submit any additional documents required within 14 days.
- Expired Driving Licence: Reapply once you have a valid, up-to-date licence.
- Reactivating an Old Account: Reactivate if your old account is still relevant.
To reapply, log in to your account and click the Reapply button.
Please Note!
If you are applying for the 'Basic' membership plan, you will need to pay the application fee again. You may also be required to upload your driving licence and personal details once more.
