We know driving and parking in London can be daunting at times, so please familiarise yourself with the following contraventions so you can avoid receiving a PCN. 

Parking
  • Unrestricted

  • Resident Permit Holder Bays

This shows what a resident or a permit holders bay sign typically looks like, which you are permitted to park in depending on which borough you are in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

  • Pay & Display

This shows what a pay and display bay sign typically looks like (or a pay by phone bay), which you are permitted to park in depending on which borough you are in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

  • Shared use

This shows what a shared use bay sign typically looks like, which you are permitted to park in depending on which borough you are in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

  • Time Restricted Bays

This shows what a time restricted bay sign looks like, enforcing a time limit for parking with a no return rule, which you are not permitted to park in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

Residents Permit Holder Bays

This shows a unique resident permit holder only bay sign, typically used at private locations, which you are NOT permitted to park in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

Loading bays

This shows a what a loading only bay sign typically looks like, which you are not permitted to be parked in at the end of the trip. However, loading/unloading goods during the trip is allowed provided that restrictions are followed. Suspended Parking Bays

This shows what a suspension sign typically looks like. It indicates that waiting, parking and loading, are banned for the duration of the suspension. You are not permitted to park in suspended bays nor in bays that have an upcoming suspension in place. Disabled Parking

This shows what a disabled only bay sign typically looks like, which is reserved for disabled badge holders only, which you are not permitted to park in at the end of your trip. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

Electric Parking Bays

This shows what an electric vehicle charging only bay sign typically looks like, which is reserved for charging electric vehicles only, while parking is not permitted. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

 

Private Parking Locations

This shows an example of a sign placed at private car parks; private locations; housing estates, where you are not permitted parked in. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

Road Markings

Red Routes

 

This shows what a red route sign typically looks like along with red markings. Single red lines restrict parking during specified hours, while double red lines prohibit stopping at any time. For more details about the Zipzone and the rules for each borough, please visit our Help Center.

Yellow Lines

Bus Lanes

This shows what a bus lane sing typically looks like, along with the markings on the ground. Bus lanes are reserved for buses, cycles, motorcycles and permitted taxis when indicated by the signs. Same restrictions apply to bus gates, that are short sections of street.

 

Yellow Box Junction

This shows what a yellow box junction typically looks like, you must not enter the box if the exit is not clear.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods


This shows what a restricted sign typically looks like and is used to restrict vehicle traffic. It is located at the entrance and exit of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTN’s). For more details about this, please visit our Help Center.
