How much mileage is included?

You can drive Zipcars and Zipvans as far you like – there is no mileage limit on reservations in our vehicles.

Reservations include 60 free miles per day, with a ‘day’ representing every 24 hour period of your booking. Any trip within that mileage does not incur any additional charge. If you drive more than that, here's how it breaks down:

Reservations lasting for 24 hours or shorter:

60 miles free included; £0.25 for each additional mile in cars and £0.29 in vans.

For example, if you reserved a car for 15 hours from 1pm Tuesday until 4am Wednesday, and you completed 50 miles of driving, there would be no mileage charge because you were within the 60 miles free included in your booking. If you drove 70 miles, 60 miles would be included free and you would be charged £0.25 for each additional mile – a total of just £2.50.

Reservations exceeding 24 hours:

60 miles free included with each 24 hour period; £0.25 for each additional mile in cars and £0.29 in vans.

For any residual reserved time over each 24 hour period, you will receive 10 miles per hour until you reach the applicable mileage inclusion for that 24 hour period.

For example if you reserved a car for 30 hours from 9am Tuesday until 3pm Wednesday, and you completed 100 miles of driving, there would be no mileage charge because you received 60 miles free within the first 24 hour period, and a further 60 for the additional 6 hours. For that reservation, 120 free miles will have been included.

You can estimate extra mileage charges for a specific reservation from your confirmation page. Just click the "details" link next to the estimated cost.

Disclaimer: in some cities you can reserve pay-per-mile cars which come with a lower hourly rate, but have no free miles included. A pay-per-mile charge applies from the first mile.
