To join the Zipcar community, you’ll need to apply online.
As part of the application, you will be prompted to upload a picture of your driving license (front and back) as well as selfie of you holding it, so please ensure you have your license to hand and are ready for the camera!
Whilst we are eager to get you on the road, our team will need to review your application. Once you’ve submitted your application, you will get a response within 48 hours, however it is usually much quicker than this. As this is not an instant process, we would advise you to open the account well in advance of your desired trip.
Once your application has been approved, head to your relevant app store to download the ‘Zipcar’ app which you can use to create bookings and lock and unlock your chosen vehicle. You will not be able to sign in to the app before you are approved.

For our basic rate plan, there is a £15 application fee to cover administration costs incurred by us as a company. All applications are thoroughly checked by our teams to ensure all requirements are met to approve members and keep our vehicles and membership safe. Once the application is submitted and the fee is paid, regardless of the outcome of the application, it is non-refundable due to costs being incurred during the application checking stage before account approval.
